Ever since his Boy Scout days, Don Reeser has been intrigued by wood carving and the artistry that can be created from an interesting piece of wood with a few tools. Following his career as a veterinarian, Don had more time to focus on perfecting his techniques and sharing carving experiences with other wood carving enthusiasts. His bird carvings have earned awards in exhibitions around the country and his studio is frequently the destination for carving seminars with renowned teachers.
Many of his carvings – featuring bird species, wildlife, flowers, wooden bowls, chip-carved plates and art objects - grace homes and public spaces throughout the US. Don also accepts commissions to create unique pieces. His meticulous eye for detail and his careful study of his carving “subjects” help Don capture nature, from a bird’s habitat to its feathers and coloration. Each of his carvings is a treasure.
